Before March 2020, searches for “lgbt friendly” were at an all-time high. When the pandemic happened, those searches plummeted as LGBTQ+ spaces around the world were forced to shut down. This left many without the safe spaces they’d come to rely on. Spaces is a celebration of these businesses and communities that are now facing unprecedented challenges.
Viewers could scroll through the various spaces and hear their stories. We collaborated with journalist and writer Tyler Ford, who thoughtfully and thoroughly interviewed the people behind the spaces, and with photographers Collier Schorr and Myles Loftin, who beautifully captured them on film. Our regional partners in Europe and Latin America also adapted this concept, and together we created in-depth experiences featuring writing, audio, video, and photographs from 14 spaces around the world.
